Nice website. I like your information and views. Keep ’em coming.
Looks good
Dr Young, I love your site; you are thinking the way I am thinking. I am solo in Port Arthur, Texas right down the road from you. Next time I am in Fort Worth will look you up. Keep up the good work. As you can see I am at the office doing paper work.
Dr. Updike, thanks for the encouraging words. I guess this means I’ll have to keep it up.
Dr. Young,
So great to discover a nearby voice of reason, hope, light…
I will be following, as they say, “with great interest” and doing my best to support and encourage…
Rodger
Rodger,
Thanks. I need all the help I can get.
Richard
Just came across this work. Heart warming. I have some idea how much commitment/passion to the professional purpose of Health Care it takes to cover the path you are on. Of course your satisfaction is in the doing of the work; but it also helps to be reminded that you are not alone. Some exemplars we both seem to know (cf. the bio): Ralph DeFronzo, Dr. Fordtran, Jean Wiloson? GREAT GOING. PLEASE KEEP IT UP: We cannot give up on the calling of Health Care as a sublime ministry of Humanknind to Humankind.
Segun Lawoyin, M.D.
Dr. Lawoyin,
Thanks for the kind thoughts.
Richard Young, MD
Am interested in what you have to say about concierge medicine. Seems like more Family med docs are heased that way.
Anna,
Short answer: I think concierge medicine charges too much. Most people shouldn’t pay $1000 per year or more for primary care. I have created a completely novel way for family physicians to code and bill for their work. My system is at http://www.sentirecare.com. My personal practice website where I’m using this system is at http://www.drrichardayoung.com.
Thanks for your question,
Richard Young, MD
Dr Young , Great job you are doing.
I am a boarded family physician as well, a graduate of University of Oklahoma 1980 and did a month long rotation in the ER at John Peter Smith – a great experience.
I have lots to say about our dysfunctional healthcare system including our very own AAFP and the out dated, past its usefulness American Board of Family Medicine.
I need to write my book “Dr Zent’s sense” Givernment and insurers policies have been abysmal and more voices of reason need to be heard , and , when can we stop drinking the Koolaid ?
Dr. Zent,
Sorry for the delay in responding. I took a little breather to take care of some other business. Thanks for your support and please write that book!

Dr. Young,
I just found your blog through KevinMD.com and want to say great job! I am not a physician, but I work with many to fix the issues you cover. Great work you are doing to bring attention to the insanity of healthcare today. Please keep it up!
Melissa Carroll
I just posted your recent blog on KevinMD on LinkdIn. Health insurance is a financing mechanism and not a healthcare specialist. Simplification of insurance is the only answer. The time you spend with a patient is the key determinant of the monetary value. Certainly not an arbitrary code dreamed up by some unknown person in trying to standardize something that you cannot standardize. The day every human is identical to every other one, you can standardize. Even AI can’t deliver that.
